World's largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas, was transferred from the French shipyard STX to the American cruise ship giant Royal Caribbean International and began her maiden voyage in the Mediterranean Sea recently. The Symphony of the Seas costs up to £959 million (approximately $1.35 billion), weighs 228,000 tons, and is 362 meters (1188 feet) long – equivalent to the length (height) of the Empire State Building.
The Symphony of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world. It can accommodate 8,000 people (including more than 2,000 employees) to travel together and is faster and quieter than the previous cruise ship. The Symphony of the Seas is the 25th cruise ship of Royal Caribbean Cruises. This summer cruise season starts in the Mediterranean Sea. The ports of berth include Barcelona and Palma Mallorca in Spain, Provence in France, Florence/Pisa in Italy, Rome and Naples and other ports.
On November 24, 2018, she will arrive in Miami, Florida, and start an eight-day, seven-night East Caribbean cruise on the new Royal Caribbean Cruise Terminal Terminal A (Terminal A). The Symphony of the Seas has 16 passenger decks with a total tonnage of more than 230,000 tons and can carry 5,500 passengers (double passenger capacity) with a total of 2774 rooms.
