The small hatch cover is the access to cabin and deck which can be easily opened and handled by the crew. Commonly used small hatch covers are in two kinds, one is the weathertight hatch cover, usually installed in the deck above the freeboard deck and semi-enclosed open-deck superstructure or deck room interior deck; The other is a non-weathertight hatch cover that can only be used on a deck or platform inside the ship.
